I had a great time in Las Vegas this last weekend playing in the annual King Cup. One of the teams I played with, Real Marin, won the O48 competitive division against a strong FTI side from Seattle 1-0 in the final. All in all a great time, but very sore after 8 60 minutes games over 3 days. Plenty of time to recover though until next year. I’m on the lower right in the red/black jacket.

Form letter response from Pelosi on SOPA

December 16, 2011

 Dear Mr. Ritchie:

Thank you for writing to me to share your views on H.R. 3261, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).  I appreciate hearing from you on this issue.

Introduced by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) on October 26, 2011, H.R. 3261 would authorize the Attorney General to seek court orders on foreign websites that commit or facilitate online piracy, copyright infringement, or trademark counterfeiting.  The bill would also increase criminal penalties for individuals who traffic counterfeit medicine and military goods and seek to increase coordination and collaboration between intellectual property enforcement agencies.  The bill was referred to the House Committee on Judiciary.  No further action has been taken.

I am fully supportive of the need to pass legislation to combat intellectual piracy, specifically dealing with rogue digital theft sites, but the legislation must strike a balance with intellectual property protection, freedom of speech, and online innovation.  We must work together for an effective solution that is smart and targeted without stifling the innovators and entrepreneurs that make San Francisco and the Bay Area so vibrant.  Please be assured I will keep your comments in mind when H.R. 3261 comes before the full House of Representatives.

Thank you, again, for contacting me on this issue. I hope you will continue to communicate with me on matters of concern to you. best regards,

Had a great time running NY Marathon last weekend. Beautiful weather, great time staying at NY Athletic Club and a decent time, 3:42. Coolest thing for me is I ran a negative split, which means I ran the second half of the race faster than the first. This is really the way to run the race as I was less sore afterwards and felt great passing all those folks in the last 10 miles of the race. Getting me excited about potentially trying to qualify for Boston Marathon, where I need a 3:30.

After three somewhat dismal performances in the 2011 Gold Cup “the chickens came home to roost” or as I like to put it  “Mexico kicked our brittle defensive butts yesterday”. Unfortunately, it probably did not have to be this way after our incredible 2-0 start, against the run of play by the way, in the first 25 minutes. This goal from Landycakes was especially impressive with the movement and the through ball by Deuce “I never smile” Dempsey .

When Cherundelo, out best player in the tournament IMO, went off with a bum ankle after 10 minutes and El Jeffe, Bob Bradley, subbed in Jonathan Bornstein I knew the USA was doomed. I have never rated JB and I have know idea what BB has ever seen in the guy. I’m sure he is a nice, loves his Mother and is kind to small animals and all, but I’m not sure I would start him over the current left back on my O40 team.

If the USMNT is going to make progress from this point we need to sack BB and start getting younger players bloodied in Europe like Lichaj, who will be really good in another 1-2 years of seasoning. Finally, a shout out to Mr. Freddy “Lazarus” Adu. This guys comeback from the dead makes JC’s look like some first century AD pretender. Way to go Freddy!
